Week 5, Day 1 Slides.. (who knows!)

We're Back! With renewed vim and vigor lets get this week going...
Continuing with Jose's theme lets roll with more Kidney lesions

Case 1
45 Year old with a multiple facial fibrofolliculomas found to have an incidental renal mass by ultrasound

20 Year old with large bilateral renal tumors.

Case 1 Is an oncocytoma which sometimes can be associated with Birt-Hogg-Dube, They also get lung cysts. FLCN (17p11) only known GENE associated with BHD. Sporadic Oncocytomas may have Chromosome 1 losses. Often shows a central, irregular fibrous scar, Mahogony brown. (CK7/Colloidal iron/vimentin help (Oncocytoma 7-/CI-/Vim-,  Eosinophilic RCC 7-/CI-/Vim+,   Eosinophilic Chromophobe  7+/CI+/Vim-)

Case 2: Is an angiomyolipoma (part of PEComa family) . 20% associated with tuberous sclerosis (most pts with TS will get AMLs). Melanocytic markers positive. Epithelial markers negative.
